ART DIRECTOR
Leadership
· Develop and implement the firm’s creative direction
· Lead and inspire our design team to conceptualize, develop and produce high-end, innovative creative for print, web and multimedia
· Mentor junior creative staff on issues of client relations, design, user interfaces, information design, interactive design, current technology, production coordination
· Resilience in bridging the gap between designer/developer/manager
· Maintain visibility and respect in the online community
· Grow the topline and contribute to the growth and development of our business
· Identify and recruit talent for the group as required
· A compelling communicator with exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
· Works well within a team environment
· Passion for design and eagerness to mentor and elevate other creative people
· Should be able to present strategy, concepts and ideas to clients in a convincing manner.
· Innate awareness of studio’s strengths and weaknesses, and guts to guide in matters of creativity and design, process, client relations, work environment, and technology as needed
Strategic and Analytical Thinking
· Understanding of fundamentals of new marketing and communications principles
· Gathering, reviewing and validating project requirements
· Validating effort estimates, assumptions, scope, and creative design to assist in developing project schedules.
· Proposal development
Collaborative Creativity
· Ensuring the art assets align with technical and creative requirements
· Managing a diverse team of web designers, artists, writers and animators
· Creation of high-level graphical specifications for web development
· Creation of creative briefs and style guides
· Ensuring quality and continuity of work
· Designing procedures to integrate varying technologies to best meet all of the above requirements
· Contribute to the development of the Studio's culture and quality standards
· Facilitation of brainstorming sessions
· Ability to marry web design to web development
Qualifications
· 6+ years design work (proven in both print and web design),
· presentation of a portfolio demonstrating experience is required
· 1 – 2 years Art Director experience
· Adobe Creative Suite
· Extensive knowledge of colour theory, methodology and practice.
· Must have knowledge of web design and experience working with database driven web sites
· A solid understanding of informational architecture practices
· Experience managing and collaborating with clients
· Enthusiasm and vision to work within a growing company
· A relentless and visible passion for and participation in marketing and community engagement
