Web Game Developer

As a Web Game Developer for our Halifax, Nova Scotia based start-up, you will be responsible for the design and development of 3D web-browser games that comprise the core of our company's innovative online training software, QuickStickz. You will work with cross-functional teams and with third party contractors to ensure that business and end-user requirements are met.

Job Description

• Architect, design and implement 3D games to be played in a web browser (IE, Firefox, Safari) and hosted on our QuickStickz website.
• Work closely with the internal team to drive the implementation of new features, facilitate communication and foster shared understanding.
• Independently research new development platforms and technologies as needed to meet project requirements.
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies and architectures.
• Perform code and design reviews.
• Mentor peers and contribute to team learning.

Requirements

• 3-5 years experience in game development for web browsers; expertise in platforms such as Flash and Silverlight preferred.
• Experience with older platforms – i.e., older versions of Flash (Actionscript 1 & 2) or Director (Lingo) - may be helpful.
• Expertise with other object oriented programming languages (C++/C#, Java) is highly preferable.
• Previous experience in game development is desirable.
• Artistic background, some experience in art asset production is also desirable.
• Talented, creative problem solver.
• Good organization skills, motivated to meet tight deadlines.
• Work in small teams with artists, managers and designers; good communication skills and team work are necessary
• Experience with agile methodologies, most notably Scrum and XP.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Positive team-oriented attitude.
• Has a strong interest in, and knowledge of the game industry.
