Working under the general supervision of the Assistant Vice President, New Media you will play a key role in the development, co-ordination, implementation and maintenance of the design elements of the ROM’s website. This includes assisting in the development of web applications; maintenance of web standards, policies and procedures; designing the overall information architecture, supervising the development of digital media assets and applications; working jointly with database programmers to build dynamic systems, defining long-range strategies and new opportunities for continued growth and strategic development of the site, liasing with ROM stakeholders, ensuring that production schedules are met, and that the website is within ROM Web standards. These responsibilities also extend to the ROM’s intranet site, as well as digital classrooms and public display applications.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Community College Diploma (3 year program) in a related discipline and additional multi-media courses (eg. Graphic Design, Computer Technology) OR an acceptable equivalent in education and experience;
• Minimum of five years experience. Proficiency in programming in XHTML, CSS, Javascript, Flash, and XML; skills in procedural and object-oriented programming in PHP and Perl. Solid understanding of SQL and MySQL;
• Sound up to date knowledge of leading edge web development including design development software, e-commerce strategies and web security issues. Proven ability in the resolution of technology-specific issues;
• Effective oral and written communication skills. French language skills would be an asset
STARTING DATE: ASAP
STARTING SALARY: $53,520 - $61,166* per annum
*effective July 1, 2009
