Web Designer, Marketing and Communications

OSITION OUTLINE:

Working in collaboration with Director, Marketing & Communications, this position provides leadership in web design execution and Internet marketing strategy development. This position is responsible for creating and updating various SFU Continuing Studies websites by developing initial design documents and turning them into user-friendly, database-driven, online community-focused, interactive web experiences. Acting as a web 2.0 subject-matter expert, this position manages the steps required to enhance the Continuing Studies Internet marketing efforts to the web 2.0 interactivity, technology and design level.

This position is located at Harbour Centre, 515 West Hastings Street, Vancouver, BC

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Undergraduate degree in web design or related field and 3 years related experience in designing   creative, user-friendly, database-driven, online community-focused, interactive websites at the web 2.0   level or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Excellent knowledge of web design software and tools, including XHTML and CSS.
• Demonstrated ability to hand code.
• Excellent skills in Adobe CS3 applications, particularly Dreamweaver, InDesign, Fireworks, Flash, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
• Excellent knowledge and demonstrated experience with cross-browser and cross-platform issues (IE,  Firefox, Safari, etc.).
• Familiarity with XML and JavaScript.
• Working knowledge with a variety of operating systems, especially Windows 95-XP and Mac OS X.
• Working knowledge of web standards and user interface best practices.
• Excellent knowledge of current web design trends and techniques.
• Working knowledge of MS Office.
• Ability to create HTML, text e-newsletters, podcasts, and webinars.
• Familiarity with web design for mobile browsing.
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, facilitation, training and communication (oral and written) skills.
• Excellent analytical reasoning, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Excellent project management skills in leading projects.

SALARY RANGE: $54,654 - $65,269  per annum (effective July 1, 2009)
START DATE: ASAP
POSITION END DATE: May 31, 2010
